I just can't help myself when it comes to this subject. Lets address the adultery right out of the box. Tiger was wrong! Really wrong! I will not even try to defend him or even what he was thinking.
Now lets address the real problem. The media overreaction to the new ad that Nike came out with that simply states "Winning Takes Care of Everything" Tiger Woods, World #1. This is congratulations to Tiger for making it back to #1. This all started back when Tiger was floundering and had dropped to #57 in the World. He was asked by a reporter about his position in the rankings. Tiger simply said "Winning takes care of Everything" What did he do? He stated the obvious that the rankings will take care of themselves if he goes out and plays well and wins on the Tour.
Again Tiger was terribly wrong and he did pay a huge huge price for his sins! He lost his family and hundreds of millions of dollars and his personal life will never be the same.
But I won't let the media and people who want to continue to judge a man for things in the past take the lead on this.
Let's state the Truth and let that stand as judgement on the Nike AD! They were congratulating Tiger for once again rising to the Number 1 ranking in Golf and leave it at that.
Tiger your were right about winning! Congratulations

MLB-American League Prediction
Its now time to close out predictions for each league by looking at the AL
Eastern Division Champ-Toronto Blue Jays
This is basically Toronto Marlins. They have combined the best of both teams and formed a strong offensive club that will club homeruns at a team record pace. The real key to this team though is its deep pitching. If this pitching staff stays healthy they will be real good. I know that's a big if but I like this staff a lot. I love the pickup of RA Dickey even though they might have paid a little too much. He will be tough again in 2013. I am not saying he will put up the monstrous numbers of 2012. He will win 15-18 games and pitched alot of innings. I also like Johnson too.
Wild Card-Tampa Bay Rays
This is a team that can go either way this year but I like their deep pitching to carry them like Oakland's staff last year. I am concerned that they may not score enough runs. But I just don't think Yankees, Orioles & Red Sox are ready to push them out of second spot in the east. I don't see anyway that a team from the Central can be a wild card.
Central Division Champs-Detroit Tigers
They have two majors stars on offensive side along with solid role players. Cabrera is the best hitter in the league period.
On the pitching side they have the best pitcher in baseball in Verlander. So simply they actually may have the two best players in the MLB. This team could sleep walk their way to the division title. That is my fear in that they won't be challenged all year and will not have to be at their best. They will then enter the playoffs and have to turn it on to face some teams who could beat them. I really like this team to be playing come October.
West Division Champs-Texas Rangers
I know I know the favorite and everyone's pick is the Angels. I just like the Rangers pitching depth better overall and pitching wins pennants. I love the Rangers bull-pen. Now we come to the rub. They have lost Hamilton and Young but I really like the balance in their lineup and they have professional hitters. I look up and down their lineup and I see guys that will hit for good average and hit 15-20 homers. Their lineup does not have the quantity of stars of the Angels but much deeper. Not many holes in this Ranger lineup.
Wild Card- Los Angeles Angels
This team has one of the two best outfields in Baseball. Atlanta is the other! I like their lineup but I want to see how much of an effect the three stars have on the rest of the lineup. The pitching is real good at the top with Weaver and Wilson but the back side I don't know what they will get. The bull-pen is definitely not as strong as Rangers.
Wild Card Game-Rays vs Angels-Angels move on
Take some time and read my take on this Wild Card Game in the National League article
Toronto will play Rangers-Toronto will prevail in tough series
Detroit has best record so they get the Angels- Verlander is the difference. Detroit moves on.
American League Champs in 7 will be the Detroit Tigers

MLB-National League Predictions
I will start in the National League and let’s go right to it by saying the two best teams in the National League are in the East!
East Division Champs-Washington Nationals
Nationals have pitching and a balanced attack
Wild Card-Atlanta Braves
This Braves team is certainly a mystery in the fact that Chipper will not be in a Braves uniform for the first time since
1993. On top of losing his leadership they don't know what they will get from Brian McCann and their talent is deep but very very young! They have the best bull pen in the Majors and a solid rotation. This is a sleeper team to win World Series.
Central Division Champs-Cincinnati Reds
I would not be shocked if the Reds ended up in the World Series but I still think they are the third best team in the NL.
I like the pickup of Choo and I am relieved that they are keeping Chapman in the closer position. I think Chapman enjoys playing this role and he will excel in 2013. I hope he was not distracted by the team trying to move him into the rotation. I question the back end of their rotation and that is why I have them third in NL but definitely the strongest team in the Central.
West Division Champs-San Francisco Giants
I have to say that everything points to the Dodgers but there is something about the chemistry of the Dodgers and this Giant team just knows how to win and they have one of the best players in the National League in Buster Posey. Their starting pitching is deep and the bull pen seems to find ways to close games.
Wild Card-Los Angeles Dodgers
They have assembled too much talent to not sneak into the last Wild Card spot. This team would scare me if I were the Braves and had to play one game to move on. I think in the end there season will end short of the World Series.
I have to say as we look toward the playoffs that this stupid idea of a one game playoff will bite baseball in the back side again. Baseball has always been decided over a 162 game schedule which tested the depth of a team. A team can have a great 3-4 man rotation that shows their strength over that long season then you make the playoffs and you go home in a one game playoff. I don't even think stupid is the correct term to use. It even bothers me more that the media supports this insanity. There’s the right word..INSANITY!
Never the less here is where we land
Dodgers will play Braves and once again the second best team in the NL will go home when they lose to Kershaw!
Dodgers will play Reds and Reds move on to the NLCS
Nationals will play SF and Nationals will end the dreams of a repeat
Nationals verses the Reds in the NLCS
National League champs in six games will be the Washington Nationals

More Free Agency thoughts
New England lets Lloyd walk so I am still confused with where they are going on offense. Now there rumors that they are going to give offer sheet to WR Emmanuel Sanders of the Steelers and if Pittsburgh doesn't match the offer they have to give up a 3rd round pick in 2013 draft. I just don't get it. They would be basically trading Lloyd and a 3rd rounder for Sanders! Don't like this move at all. I have to say the pickup of Adrian Wilson is a great move and they will be better in the secondary with his addition. I am huge Wilson fan. They also resigned Talib which makes them solid at three positions in the secondary.
What a fiasco in Denver with Dumervil. This is bad move all around by Broncos. Mister Bronco John Elway pulls a stupid move and goes in the media and crushes Dumervil about his contract. They fiddle around about the contract till the last day and actually down to the last hour and the agent gets the contract in too late. The Broncos lose one of their leaders and best pass rushers. In this league is their anyone more important to your success on defense? Now maybe they will get him back but he is now open to talk with other teams and I would have to take advantage of that after the way Elway treated him in the media.

Random thoughts on Free Agency
Where do we begin? Let's start with the Super Bowl champs. Baltimore wins the Super Bowl but in my mind the best team did not win the Super Bowl the hottest team did. Ozzie did not make the same mistake the Giants did by being lulled into believing his team was good enough to repeat with the same players. He took his Super Bowl trophy and went to work rebuilding his team. He still has a solid offense and some players he can build with on defense. He has a young Upshaw at linebacker, Terrell Suggs, Ngata on the line and a solid cover corner in Webb returning from injury. He can concentrate on defense in the draft. This team will not win the Super Bowl but they will not fall as far as most people think while Ozzie rebuilds to make another run in a couple of years.
I really don't understand New England letting Wes Welker go then signing Danny Amendola to 5 year contract for more money than Welker would have taken. It is almost like Bill is punishing Wes and sending a message to players for future reference if you push the issue for money you will be gone. Wes is a better player than Danny and definitely more durable!!!! This is big risk in my mind. They then let Danny Woodhead leave for San Diego and this is the type of person I thought Bill loved. New England will still be effective on offense but I am not sure if they will be better. They have not won a Super Bowl since 2005 and I am beginning to wonder if being in a weak sister division has not actually hurt them when it comes to the playoffs. They seem soft when they play other playoff teams. Yes I believe they will have one of the better records in the AFC and will win their division easily but Super Bowls are what you play to win.
I really like the moves by Seattle. I think they were the best defense in the NFL last year and they have added depth to the defense by signing a couple of lineman that will help the pass rush which is exactly what they needed. They signed Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril. I actually think Avril might be a great signing in that he actually might be better in Seattle than he was in Detroit. I think Avril can benefit from the fact this defense is more disciplined than Detroit. They then added a young receiver in Percy Harvin. I worry that he might struggle to stay healthy but he has game changing ability.

Super Bowl or Bust
So free agency is here!!! The Super Bowl MVP signs the richest contract in the game even though he won't be paid the most because of the mean old thing called taxes. Joe Flacco is being paid for paying very well in the playoffs but being average during the regular season. I have grown weary of QBs not only getting paid more than they are worth but also getting praise they don't deserve. Let's go down the list over the last few seasons. These certainly won’t be in any order.
Big Ben comes out and wins his first Super Bowl when his team was outplayed by Seattle and the defense and running game carried him. Just a note..Ben had the lowest QB rating for a winning quarterback in Super Bowl history. Ben does go to second Super Bowl and drives team to winning TD. But he was ineffective most the second half in that game. Ben basically has benefited greatly from his team’s ability to run the ball and play GREAT DEFENSE! When the defense struggles Big Ben sits at home out of the playoffs.
How about Eli Manning? He goes out and throws up season after season with tons of interceptions and yet everyone jumps on the bandwagon when they get hot at the end of one season because of an incredible pass rush that just wilted QB after QB. They get to the Super Bowl twice with the same formula! And they beat NE both times because that D just pressured Brady to the point he even wilted. The first Super Bowl he throws up basically a punt that Asante Samuel is camped under ready to intercept and he just plain drops it. Then Eli throws up another prayer and WR catches it on his head. Now everyone started saying Eli is better than his brother. Are we crazy?
Now we come to Joe Flacco and everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. First go back and look at the seasons of Eli and Big Ben this past year and you will see where Joe Flacco is heading. Joe had won a lot of playoff games but mainly because of that same old thing. His team had a good running game and great defense. The truth is they won in the past in spite of him. Now granted he was definitely a difference maker in the playoffs this year. I do think Flacco ought to send part of his raise to the safety on Denver for giving him a gift win. I am not as convinced as he is that he belongs in the talk with the elite.
Final thought...teams win Super Bowls not QB's!!!!

MLB MVP 2013 Predictions by Rich Day
New Year. New Predictions. New MVP's. Lets start with the American League. Many choices are available for MVP in the AL, but I think we have to look at one team that really has three candidates. The Angels are set to make a deep playoff run and are beginning to look like the Yankees of the West Coast. Josh Hamilton, Albert Pujols and Mike Trout are all three possibilities but I am going to have to go with Albert Pujols. He will be well protected in this lineup. He will lead this team in RBI's, Avg., Slugging Per. and OBP and he will be a huge reason they make it to the World Series. The NL MVP has a few favorites as well. Ryan Braun is one ,as well as, Matt Kemp but I am going to go with a dark horse. Jason Heyward is set to have a break out year after his career year last year. He, like Albert, will benefit from a new acquisition in the lineup. Justin Upton will offer a lot of protection for Heyward and Jason is young and has not reached his peak yet. He will help, along with a very underrated pitching staff, lead the Braves to first World Series Championship since 1995.
