Tim Tebow Release
I thought I should address the recent decision to release Tebow and add in a few comments when it comes to Sanchez too. I can remember last year when the Jets brought Tebow on board and talked about using him in special packages. There were critics who said Tebow would stunt the growth of Sanchez. Some even said Tebow was at fault for Sanchez struggling. Tebow was never given a fair chance to do what he does well and the Jets and Sanchez had a failed season. They were one of the worst offensive teams I have seen in many years. They had no identity on offense and certainly coaching is to blame but Sanchez was simply awful. Tebow is certainly limited as a quarterback but has value as a football player. He would be a great tight end or even running back. I wish Tim would take a position change and start over with another team. Sanchez is another story completely. Mark is a backup not a franchise quarterback. The Jets drafted Geno Smith because they realize Mark is not the answer and if Geno fails they will try again next year to replace Mark. There is only one way to be successful with Sanchez as your QB. You need great defense and great running game and don't ask Mark to do too much. They went to two AFC Championships that way but if one of these two facets slip then Mark's weaknesses jump out. I am not convinced Geno is the answer but I am convince Sanchez isn't. In today’s NFL you need a QB that can make things happen and put points on the board. Sanchez is a game manager but can't manage a game in today’s situations. He might have been more successful in the 70s & 80s NFL but his style of play is no longer the standard in 2013.
